Event Details: Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract with 2,549 acres of wilderness only 15 miles from downtown Atlanta. The extraordinary beauty of the rugged hills, rocky outcrops, and rolling rapids of Sweetwater Creek has shaped centuries of history inviting you to reconnect with the natural world.
The hike and viewing of the ruins is approximately 2.5 mile round trip and will take about 2 to 2.5 hours. It is an easy to moderate hike as we follow the creek to the Civil War era ruins of a water-powered textile mill. It is not suitable for anyone with mobility restrictions.T
After the hike, there will be an optional lunch at a nearby restaurant.
What to Bring: Water, snacks, insect repellant.
Directions: At 1750 Mt. Vernon Road, turn onto Factory Shoals Road and drive approximately half a mile to the parking area adjacent to the Visitor Center. Pay $10 per vehicle to park and proceed to the Visitor Center to meet the other members on the APT hike.
Cost: $10 per vehicle for parking at Sweetwater Creek. And, of course, your lunch!
