APT Road Trip to Milledgeville
When: Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 9:00 a.m. (leave from Atlanta)
Event Details: Take a day trip to Historic Milledgeville Georgia, which served as the State Capitol from 1804 to 1868. We will visit Andalusia where renowned Georgia author Flannery O'Conner lived and wrote two novels and 32 short stories including "A Good Man Is Hard To Find". Her collected short stories won the 1972 National Book Award.
After Andalusia, we will stop for lunch at a popular casual restaurant in Milledgeville, paying separately for our lunches.
Following lunch, we will take a walking tour of downtown Milledgeville and the campus of Georgia College and State University, including a visit to the former Georgia Governor's Mansion.
Finally, we will visit the home of Mike Riley, our local Milledgeville tour guide and retired English professor, to see his book bindery and printing press as he serves us refreshments.
